When you're in Ubud, it's hard to miss the wonderful selection of restaurants and cafes. They range from authentic warungs serving up traditional Balinese cuisine to modern fusion restaurants with a contemporary Indonesian flair. However, there's something about authentic restaurants and cafes that just feels good. Maybe it's the feeling of being truly cared for by hospitable people, or perhaps it's the sense of connection to something real and genuine, or a view that makes us feel at home. From healthy cafes with great views to modern Indonesian restaurants imbued with a sense of style, these are some of my favorite eateries in Ubud, Bali.
1. Nusantara by Locavore
Amazing refined Indonesian food. My favourite authentic, upscale dining in Ubud. A special treat, open for dinner only.
2. RÜSTERS Coffee
Hip coffee place, pottery studio, delicious food and Friday jazz nights. My favorite place in Ubud.
3. Restaurant Locavore
Experimental fine dining in the middle of Ubud. Book in advance.
4. Locavore To Go
Low key delicious and juicy burgers. Vegetarian options included!
5. Hujan Local Ubud
Solid Indonesian food in a relaxed airy setting in the middle of all the action.
6. Bebek Tepi Sawah
A very local establishment, mostly frequented by locals and domestic tourists, famed for their crispy duck in a picturesque rice field setting.
7. Melali Ubud
Great western food fix in an aesthetically pleasing location.
8. PICA South American Kitchen
Cozy ambiance for some delicious meat in the middle of Ubud.
9. The Sayan House
A view and location to die for. In my opinion, the best place to dine and watch the sunset.
10. Muse Cafe & Art
Solid dosas & Indian food, frequented almost exclusively by local yoga crowds. Very chill and tranquil restaurant.
11. Room4Dessert
Featured on Chef’s Table, this restaurant serves a 8 course dessert menu.
12. Warung Siam
Unpretentious and delicious Thai food in the middle of the hustle and bustle of Ubud central.
